UNDERSTANDING THE LinkedIn ALGORITHIM
This week's chapter does a great job of dissecting the LinkedIn algorithm and how to utilize it to its fullest ability. LinkedIn can feel more intimidating than most social media platforms due to the fact it holds much more of a professional structure and seems much more cut and dry compared to all other social media platforms. However just like all other social media platforms there is a distinct algorithm that is important to understand so you can maximize your page's potential.
When looking at the LinkedIn algorithm there are three main factors that it takes into account. Those are the people you know, the things you are interested in and the things you end up engaging with. This includes other peoples accounts, hashtags, posts, groups, and other large portions of the platform. Depending on what your overall interests are, the algorithm is going to try and show you both people and content related to those interests. This can help you find certain groups and professionals without doing the heavy lifting which can allow you to multitask within the platform itself.
There are some other aspects that fit more along with what content you post. Once again relevancy plays a rather large factor into your overall exposure on LinkedIn. Keeping content short, to the point and relevant to what is happening within your niche of bossiness will help your profile get noticed by the maximum number of people. Being able to use the algorithm for both your content and finding people who have your same interests can boost your impressions and reputation on LinkedIn which can provide many benefits.
