MY FIRST TIME USING PINTEREST

This week in my principles of social media class we were given an assignment that required us to use Pinterest in a variety of ways and then relate those ways back to the course. This was an interesting assignment due to the fact there was a learning curve because I have never really used Pinterest before. This required me to do some research on the app so I could understand the vocabulary being used within the platform itself. After understanding exactly what a Pinterest board is and how to pin things to it the assignment became much clearer.

This assignment required us to find ten total pins that are relevant and can be related back to the textbook. After finding these pins I then had to find three overarching concepts that these pins fall under and explain how those concepts relate to my professional/personal life. At the end of the assignment I had to make a decision on why I would or wouldn't use Pinterest. I decided that I would not use Pinterest at the end of the day. However this is because of personal preference not because of the platform it's self. I think the platform is great and has tons of room for creativity and collaboration but I personally wouldn't use it because I haven't needed to.

Overall I found this assignment very informative and interesting. Although I wouldn't use Pinterest it was still fun and necessary to learn how the platform works and its overall layout. This assignment taught me new things about social media entirely as well as backed up the information that has been provided within our textbook through out the semester.

  1. Hey Ryan, I totally agree with you! I don't think I will ever use Pinterest again because just because I don't think it's a platform for me. If I wanna look at pictures or find ideas I just look it up on Instagram or safari! Overall I agree I think this was a very informative and interesting assignment.

  2. Chase Coburn: Ryan, I couldn't agree more because I also have never used Pinterest either, and I am thinking about starting to use it more because of what you said and what we learned in class.

  3. I agree with you about Pinterest for sure! I've used it before, and will probably keep it to use it more in the future, but it's not my favorite platform. I don't find myself reaching for it often at all. It was cool to hear about your experience as someone who's never used it before!

  4. I'm also not a huge Pinterest guy, but you're right about how important it is to learn how to use it. Lots of potential for marketing for sure!

  5. I can totally understand how Pinterest would be confusing to a first time user! I used it a lot as a child and then stopped using it for a while. It's definitely a unique social media platform.
