TRUST AND DISINFORMATION

This week's chapter focused a lot on the ethics and moral standards of business and how much more important those aspects of business are with the rise of social media. This has created a high need for social media and public relations specialists. Being able to have strong stances and opinions on modern world issues and using social media platforms to express those ideas will provide much needed clarity and transparency to the company's followers.

Companies being able to use their social media platforms to weigh in on social issues and other trends will allow them to be more relatable and have open ways of. communication with their audiences. One of the most important things for modern businesses is trust and loyalty when it comes to all stakeholders and once again social media is a great way to earn and keep the trust of all stakeholders involved. Unfortunately for modern day companies the overall trust rate is at an all time low so they have to work even harder to gain and maintain trust from stakeholders.

Overall the chapter does a great job of showing how crucial public relations and social media specialists are in corporate business. Also being able to use the company's voice as an open path of positive, transparent and clear commutation is more important than ever considering how one mistake can cost the reputation and trust of anyone involved with a specific company.

  1. Chase Coburn: I like how you said, "social media platforms to weigh in on social issues and other trends will allow them to be more relatable," because I love how sports pages are now posting about each other, like after one team beats another team, they post memes. It is totally more enjoyable to see.
