HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR BRAND

This week's chapter provides many great examples and important pieces of information about starting your own personal brand. The chapter provides an outline of 9 total steps that hit at different key topics. These topics are all important but there were specific points that I found most important.

Identifying the target audience felt like the most important topic out of the chapter. This is because being able to identify the audience you want to influence and reach will give an overall guideline for what content and the overall brand is going to be about. Part of the reason why this is the first step out of the 9 is because once you complete this first step the other 8 will quickly follow suit.

Something I personally disagreed with in the chapter is tip number 5 "Determine Your Goals". I personally think that you have many of your goals in mind and are determined before you start. However, your goals changing and evolving can happen many times throughout your career but I feel like that happens naturally and shouldn't be built in as a step, it's just part of the growing process.

The last point I felt was super important was the "Identifying Your Competition" point. Being able to identify your completion will be able to give you a great idea of how saturated and how hard it will be to build an audience. This will also help you take things away from your competition and being able to learn from your peers is just as important as competing with them.

  1. Hi, Ryan. I'd have to agree with you, and the book for that matter, that identifying and knowing your target audience, although are 2 different things, are among the utmost importance when trying to create your brand. Imagine trying to do these things without knowing and identifiying your audience would be a hassle at the least.
